Together we’re creating a better food system - where no good food goes to waste and no neighbours go hungry.

Our unique localised approach harnesses the power of community members, who redistribute surplus food from their local supermarket, café, bakery, or grocery store directly to food relief agencies down the road.

We work with agencies supporting youth in crisis, families in need, asylum seekers, people sleeping rough, those escaping abusive environments, as well as the elderly and vulnerable.

FoodFilled was registered as a charitable organisation.

Seeing bins overflowing with perfectly good food in our own community made one thing clear: something had to change - and that commitment now drives our mission to reduce food waste and support those experiencing hunger across Australia.

In Australia 1 in 3 households face food insecurity, while 1.3 billion tonnes of edible food is wasted each year.

FoodFilled is backed by hundreds of dedicated volunteers who redistribute tonnes of food every month – students, families, professionals, people who simply care.

We've grown from a handful of donations to coordinating over 500 per month. Each month we provide 40,000+ meals from 20,000+ kg of food that would otherwise have ended up in landfill.

Our Core Values

  • Whether you're volunteering, receiving support, or partnering with us, you deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. That's non-negotiable.

Our model preserves dignity at every step - because how we do this work matters as much as the work itself.

  • Our impact is driven by a sense of collective responsibility. We're connecting local businesses, local food relief services, and local people because strong communities take care of their own.

  • Protecting our planet is central to who we are. Every item of food we collect is one that doesn't end up in landfill, reducing emissions.

We're committed to a food system that works for people and the planet.

  • Everyone is welcome. We celebrate what makes each person unique and recognise that we all have a role to play.

We work hard to ensure every volunteer, partner, and community member feels valued and included as part of the FoodFilled team.

  • We're grassroots by design. We saw a need, so we built something new - a local-first model that works.

We're always learning, adapting, and finding better ways to make an impact.

Discrimination in any form undermines our ultimate purpose to ignite positive change and foster a world where all individuals can thrive.

We are dedicated to creating a work environment and volunteer network that is free from discrimination, harassment, and bias.
